Since recently retiring from UCSD, I have been promoting STEM/STEAM activities through teaching and course development, focusing my efforts on computer engineering projects using the Arduino, Raspberry Pi and software defined radio (SDR).
I have a special interest in space and aerospace applications which have never been so accessible to students of all ages. I built flight recorders for high powered amateur rockets, a functional (but not space-worthy) cubesat, and ground stations to receive telemetry from satellites, weather balloons and aircraft.
This website documents these projects and related teaching activities. I hope you find it helpful. Use the above menu tabs to explore.
It’s a work in progress, so check back for updates. I’m adding pages, lesson plans, and blog posts regularly.
